On April 6th, 2024, Beyond Hoops Africa joined communities around the world in celebrating the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace. With this year’s theme — "Sport for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies" — BHA brought the message to life through community-driven soccer and basketball events in Dagoretti, Kenya.
The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is celebrated annually on April 6th. In 2024, the theme for the day was "Sport for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies." The day highlights the powerful role sport and physical activity play in fostering unity, well-being, and social inclusion across communities worldwide.
In the Dagoretti community, Beyond Hoops Africa marked the occasion by organizing two events in Kenya — one focused on soccer and the other on basketball. Both events created opportunities for youth to engage in sport while promoting values of peace, teamwork, and equality.
As part of the celebration, BHA donated soccer boots, jerseys, and soccer balls to participants — equipping them not only with gear, but with encouragement to continue playing, connecting, and leading within their community.
